How to use it

Shake it like the pros do.

Two tins take about one drink to get used to. This is the whole method.

  1. Fill the large tin with ice, then add your ingredients to the small tin.
  2. Place the small tin inside the large tin at a slight angle and tap it once to create a secure seal
  3. Shake firmly for about 12 seconds, keeping one hand on each end.
  4. Tap the side of the large tin to release the seal, then strain and pour.
If the tins are difficult to separate, firmly tap the large tin near the point where they meet. Avoid twisting or forcing them apart.

This Boston shaker feels very high quality—it’s heavy and seals very well with no leaking. I’m a big fan of Everyday Cocktail videos, and it’s great to have their product at my house!

This is a high-quality stainless-steel set, that is also dishwasher safe. I made some margaritas and amaretto sours in this, and I felt like a professional bartender! The shaker cups fit together perfectly with no leaks. I've always stirred together my drinks and it's amazing how much better it tastes using a real shaker set. You could also use this for non-alcoholic beverages like coffee drinks or fruit drinks. The strainer worked as designed to hold back the ice, but it doesn't have the edge pieces that prevent the strainer from falling into the drink like other brands have. The cups are also a little smaller than other brands. With that said, this is an inexpensive shaker set, so you can't expect everything that a more expensive set has. This set stores nicely in the cabinet, since it all nests together. Nice tool to add to a kitchen or bar set. We've never had one of these before and I wonder why I didn't? It's a very for mixing various drinks.

This is a nice cocktail shaker. It has all metal construction and is high quality. Both cups have a decent weight but the cup sides are a little thin. It mixes cocktails fine as you would expect a cocktail shaker to do. The downside is that it doesn't come with a strainer like some other shakers do, so you'll have to buy one of those if you don't already have one.

I got this to use for the holidays to mix cocktails and it works great. Margaritas and gin and tonics with fresh citrus are my favorites. It does not spill like the other shaker I have. The 2 pieces fit together easily and just add ice, liquid, shake and pour. Very easy to clean also.

Maltese Squad

This is a very nice cocktail shaker set. I knock one star because the ads all have a strainer used but it does not come with a strainer. I still like the shaker and think it’s a quality product.

This shaker set feels very nice, and looks good, as well.So far, it does its job, working well as a shaker, without making a mess. And you can look pretty sharp, mixing up a drink in this, then pouring it into a glass like a pro bartender. If that changes, I will be sure to come back, and modify my review. Otherwise, assume this is still working as well as one could hope.

This is a great shaker! I was able to shake up a martini with no issue. No leaks! I particularly like that it's all steel too, no gaskets to clean behind or anything like that. It feels like a quality piece of kit as well, so I'm happy to have it for my bar setup!

Before you buy

Frequently Asked Questions.

Does it come with a strainer?

No. Boston tins are sold as two pieces and the strainer is a separate tool, which is how bars buy them. Any Hawthorne strainer fits, or our 10-piece bartender kit includes one.

The two tins are stuck together. What do I do?

Tap the side of the large tin firmly, right where the two meet. The seal breaks instantly. Never twist them apart.

Is it dishwasher safe?

Yes. It is all stainless steel with no rubber gasket, so there is nothing to clean behind and nothing to perish.

How big is it?

The large tin holds 18 oz, which is enough for two drinks at once. The tins nest together for storage.

How do I get the free 246 recipe e-book?

Scan the QR code printed on the box. Nothing to claim at checkout and nothing extra to pay.

Why a Boston shaker and not a cobbler?

A cobbler has a built-in strainer and a rubber seal, which is easier to start with but seizes when cold. Boston tins seal metal on metal, hold more, and come apart with one tap. It is what bars use.
